Mold
Mold is a resilient fungus that can grow just about anywhere. While many people think black mold, there are many different types, each with the ability to cause harm.

Environment
Mold requires four things to live:
-
Warm
-
Food
-
Moisture
-
Oxygen

Mold can lie invisible and dormant for years until the right environment exists for them to grow. It can take as little as 24 hours if conditions are correct for mold to germinate. To spread, molds release spores that can travel in the air, travel through your HVAC system and spread to your whole home, which is why it's so important to catch it early.

Left unchecked, mold can quickly spread and cause home damage and illness in people with a variety of symptoms.

Where to Find Mold
Since mold can thrive in a wide range of temperature ranges, and consume most things for food, mold is typically found wherever their is water. Around your home this includes:
-
Bathrooms
-
Showers
-
Sinks
-
Leaky attics
-
Crawlspaces
-
Washing machines
-
Hot water heaters
-
Dish washers
-
Cracked windows
-
Window frames and other poorly insulated spots that condensate in the winter

As a result, we generally encourage people to keep humidity in their home between 30-50%.
